The launch of the eagerly awaited James Bond video game, titled 007 First Light, has been delayed to 27 May 2026.

Initially scheduled for a 27 March release, the title will now hit shelves approximately two months later its initial date.

A Much-Needed Return for 007

This project represents the maiden video game starring the legendary British spy following 2012's 007 Legends, ending a extended hiatus for the character in the gaming world.

"Our project is completely traversable from beginning to end," commented studio IO Interactive. "Yet, we are using this additional period to apply final touches and ensure it lives up to the high expectations of our players."

Production Particulars and Story Components

The game is being crafted alongside Delphi Interactive, a studio also responsible for another upcoming title.

Patrick Gibson, star of Dexter: Original Sin, takes on the role of a 26-year-old James Bond in what is promoted as a new look at the early days.

The narrative will follow Bond as he joins into MI6 and earns his prestigious 00 status, presenting a standalone story separate from the films or books.

Star-Studded Talent and Mechanics Glimpses

Enhancing the star power, American musician Lenny Kravitz was announced as the project's main villain.

Released gameplay trailers have highlighted shared mechanics with IO Interactive's popular Hitman franchise, while also highlighting the expected gadgets and cinematic set pieces expected from Bond.

However, some feedback on these trailers expressed apprehensions regarding how the game looked, pointing out frame rate drops and the use of motion blur.

A Major Undertaking

IO Interactive has referred to 007 First Light its "largest-scale project to date."

"We're confident this sets 007 First Light up for enduring popularity," the studio continued. "We are grateful for the understanding and continued support we've received."
