Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over some of the game's hardest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Users have commenced using tailored sessions created through Battlefield Portal to complete them, emphasizing just how arduous these missions have become.
Understanding BF6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. It features four categories of assignments, but where most merely grant outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons found within the game.
A number of these gated guns could shortly earn a place on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration via Reddit
On Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This task is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you want to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Extremely Difficult Challenge
Another Reddit user brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, within the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with sniper rifles
This is tough enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and maybe Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you want to snipe from a significant distance.
The Alternative Method
There is a workaround though: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This implies you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.
However, when doing the challenges in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for finishing these in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Potential Changes
It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because if they're not, some players simply will never acquire the locked firearms.
Currently, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these demanding in-game tasks, expecting a fairer player experience in future updates.
